About Joshua
Hi, my name is Joshua. But those who know me just call me Josh.
I’m an Asian-American actor who was born and raised in southern California. My performing debut was in the annual middle school musical, where I flaunted my comically large head across a temporarily-built stage. While I can still sing and dance, I wouldn’t quite call myself a musical theater performer. My goal is to help bring fair and honest representation of minorities, specifically Asian-Americans, into mainstream Film and Television by playing (or even creating) authentic Asian-American characters and calling attention to the Asian-American experience. However, I will always hold the theater close to my heart, especially classical plays written by the Bard himself.
When I’m not cramming lines into my head, I find a lot of enjoyment in exercise, specifically weight-training and Muay-Thai kickboxing. It’s a good thing that being a nerd is considered cool now too, because I find myself playing video games, running Dungeons and Dragons, or watching anime in a lot of my spare time. I love movies as well, from the latest Marvel blockbuster (I have loved Spider-Man since I took my first steps) to French auteur films like Agnès Varda’s Cléo de 5 à 7. I’ve grown a soft spot for anything French after studying abroad in Paris, and yes, je peux parler un peu de français.
So that’s a bit of who I am and what I do. Thanks for reading, and I am excited to collaborate, learn, and explore!
